In the year 2023, Higher Education Minister K. Ponmudy announced that the All India Council for Technical Education has permitted six engineering colleges in the State to offer new courses. MCET is one of the six colleges. Engineering aspirants will have the option of choosing from two new courses Electronics and Communication (Advanced Communication Technology) and Electronics Engineering (VLSI Design and Technology).
AICTE approved Innovative new courses at MCET which steps into improving the student’s overall potential and suitability through a holistic approach. The two courses are in tune with the demands of Industry 4.0. B. E VLSI Design and Technology and B. E. Advanced Communication Technology. These courses will help the expansion of the semiconductor industry by teaching advanced technology for the production of microprocessors quality by reducing the space occupied by an electronic gadget by integrating hundreds of transistors into one microchip. The success of any new process depends on continuous evaluation and refinement to maintain its relevance and effectiveness in an evolving educational environment.
VLSI at MCET
This innovative academic programme has recently introduced a new course: B.E Electronics Engineering (VLSI Design and Technology). This course is designed to equip students with an in-depth knowledge of VLSI design and its various applications. The course curriculum includes theoretical and practical aspects which is ideal for students who are passionate about electronics and want to pursue a career in this field.
Main Objective
This course is to produce world-class professionals with an elaborate knowledge of VLSI’s latest Technologies and to enhance skills in designing VLSI Chips for Industrial Requirements. The Program curriculum is aimed at VLSI System Design engaging topics such as digital logic design, computer architecture, semiconductor physics, and signal processing. It also focuses on achieving excellence in research using the latest technologies.
Career in the Field of VLSI
VLSI Students are in Great demand In Various core companies like Intel, IBM, Texas Instruments, Synopsis, Mental Graphics, etc., and also Major IT Industries like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, CTS, and Accenture. Students might have Research Opportunities in Premier Institutes like IIT, NIT, and Foreign Universities in the latest areas of the programs in the Future.
VLSI Students have the wide opportunity To Take up Projects under MAKE IN INDIA and DIGITAL INDIA schemes by Govt of India.
ACT at MCET
This four-year B.E Programme in Electronics & Communication will be dealing with Advanced Communication Technology like Massive Multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO), Beamforming Through advanced digital Signal processing, Device to Device (D2D) Communication, Millimeter Wave (mm-wave) technologies, etc.,
Focus on Advancement
In coherence with the current focus of Gov of India on Advanced Communication Technology to Increase GDP and create employment to digitalize the economy, This course will train the engineering students in consonance with Govt of India and the Requirements outlined by AICTE. Focuses on ACT and Related technologies to build the foundation of the Digital Economy.
