Smart work is better than hardwork is the best maxim that suits the life of Thiru. P. Nachimuthu Gounder who opted for the best solution for people problem then- transportation. Thiru. P. Nachimuthu Gounder implemented an ultimate idea to use bullock carts to help people. The limitations of bullock cart transportation prompted him to modernize and Anamalais Transport came into existence which is now known as ABT limited exploring every corner of the state. The modernization of the transport fueled a thought on the importance of technical education. A vision was born. The dream was made into reality by Arutchelvar Dr. N. Mahalingam – a name that is synonymous with Pollachi. Motivated by his father’s vision Nachimuthu Industrial Association Trust was established in the year 1956.

The dream was cherished with the incorporation of Nachimuthu Polytechnic College in 1957 through which 120 rural students were made competent enough to work with modern technology.

As he had a better understanding of the need of the hour Arutchelvar Dr. N. Mahalingam was prompted to pioneer with technical education rather than starting a school.

The society’s solicitation made him the Chairman of NIA to expand education right from schooling to engineering. Within a short span of 50 years the NIA has ventured into many avenues and has established its roots in industrialization, education, finance, transportation, synthetic gems, textiles, agriculture and automobiles. Nachimuthu Industrial Association not only offers jobs but also provides opportunities for rural students to gain knowledge and explore the fast-paced world. For his achievement in education and welfare of the society, the industrial genius has been recognized by Government of India and was conferred with Padma Bhusan in 2007.

SECRETARY

Dr. C. Ramaswamy is the Secretary of the NIA Educational Institutions. He has been associated himself with NIA for more than four decades in providing high quality education to thousands of students.

He was the Principal of Nachimuthu Polytechnic College, from 1994 to 2000. He was instrumental in the development of the College in all aspects and he was also the Founder Principal of Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology. He has been the Secretary of NIA Institutions since 2000.

With a strong determination and active involvement, Dr. C. Ramaswamy helps the NIA institutions achieve academic excellence. He has created an indelible page in the golden history of NIA institutions, in creating infrastructure, promoting partnerships with institutions and corporate in India and abroad as well

An experienced educationist and administrator, Dr. C.R has played a dominant role in the growth and development of the NIA institutions.

He obtained his doctorate from Madras University for his research on Industry Institute Collaborative Model in the year 2017.

Dr. S. Vijayarangan., M.E., Ph.D., FIE.
DIRECTOR (Academic)

Prof. S. Vijayarangan, is an Automobile Engineer from the Madras Institute of Technology, Chennai. He holds his Master’s degree in Engineering Design, from Madras University , through PSG College of Technology, and his doctoral degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai.

He joined the stream of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at PSG College of Technology in the year 1978 and has more than 25 years of teaching and research experience. Under his guidance, 9 Ph.D scholars have obtained their doctoral degree and another scholars are working currently. To his credit more than 100 publications out of which more than 40 papers are published in International and National Journals. His field of interest and research are automobile engineering, composite material structures, finite element analysis and gear engineering. He is a former Principal of PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore

He has offered consultancy services to many engineering industries. He has conducted a number of short term courses exclusively for practicing engineers in different industries; to name a few HAL- Koraput (Orissa), HAL Bangalore, BHEL-Trichy, Ashok Leyland-Chennai, Premier Polytronics, Pricol, and LMW-Coimbatore, etc. He has delivered guest lectures in more than 50 summer and winter schools, short term courses, conferences and workshops.

He was awarded with the Best Engineering College Teacher Award by the ISTE (TN&P), the Outstanding Corporate Fellow Member Award by the Institution of Engineers ( India ), the N.K.Iyengar Memorial Award for the best technical paper presented in the Journal of Institution of Engineers ( India ) and Innovative Ph.D. Project award by the Indian National Academy of Engineers, New Delhi .

He has been a member of the AICTE Expert Committee in different Staff Selection Boards and Inspection Committees. Also, he has been a member of the board of examiners in different Universities and autonomous Colleges. He is a former Chairman of The Institution of Engineers ( India ), Coimbatore Local Centre. He is a Member of ISTE, SAE , USA and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, India .

The DIRECTOR (Student Affairs)

Dr. Palaniswamy was born and brought up in Paramadaiyur, a small village about 20 km south of Pollachi. He obtained his BE ( Civil Engineering) from University of Madras (PSG Tech), MSc (Structural Engineering) from Indian Institute of Science , Bangalore and PhD (Mechanics & Materials) from University of Illinois, Chicago, USA.

After his graduation in 1973, Dr. Palaniswamy joined Bechtel Corporation in SanFrancisco, USA as an engineer in the civil department. He rose through the ranks to become the Chief Engineer and the Principal Project Engineering Manager in the company. After 33 years of service he retired in 2006. All his experience has been in the design and construction of nuclear power plants and nuclear waste disposal facilities

Dr. Palaniswamy came to MCET as the HOD of civil department in 2007. In 2009 he became the Dean of civil engineering and infrastructure management. In 2013 he became Principal of MCET. In 2014 he assumed the present position as The Director (Student Affairs).

Dr. Palaniswamy is a registered professional engineer in California, USA, a Project Management Professional, a member of the Project Management Institute and a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers

Dr.A.Rathinavelu, B.E., M.Tech., Ph.D.

PRINCIPAL

Dr.A.Rathinavelu pursued his doctorate in Computer Science at NIT, Trichy. He completed his Master of Technology degree in Edith Cowan University, Perth and Bachelor of Engineering at IRTT. He has 6 years of Industrial experience and more than 18 years of Engineering College experience so far. He is working in MCET since 1999 at various capacities. He was heading the Computer Science Department during 1999-2017.He has guided the CSE department for NBA Accreditation thrice. He is a recognized RESEARCH supervisor in the Department of CSE under faculty of Information and communication Engg of Anna University, Chennai. He is an NBA Expert member for granting accreditation to other colleges. Department of CSE is recognized as Research Centre under AU-Chennai since Jan 2017.He is guiding IT Infrastructure Management & HR Practices for many years in the College.

Dr.A.Rathinavelu has published several research articles and his work in the area of Human Computer Interaction has been recognized in other reputed International Universities. He is currently guiding two Ph.D scholars. He is a Life-Time Member in Computer Society of India & ISTE. He is heading the Microsoft Innovation Center since 2011 and has been invited by Microsoft to share his experience in their Indian & US summits. As Professor In-charge, he coordinated the NBA & NAAC Accreditation process of the college as well as the UGC Autonomous Process since 2010. He was the Member Secretary of Academic Council in the College during 2011-2017. He has visited to countries like Australia, Canada, USA for education and training activities.
