Microsoft Innovation Center ( MIC ) is a state of art technology facility for collaboration on innovative research, technology or software solutions, involving a combination of government, academic and industry participants. The programme also supports innovation at the grass-root level and encourages entrepreneurship. The creation of the Microsoft Innovation Platform in the campus will go a long way in enabling every student with current technology and innovation spirit. Dr.MCET is situated in a rural area and the launch of MIC is an opportunity for Students and Industry personnel in our town to gain exposure to Microsoft Technologies.

A Microsoft Innovation Centre of Microsoft was launched here on December 6, 2012. Joseph Landes, General Manager, DPE – Microsoft, India inaugurated the Center. A memorandum of understanding was signed by Mr. Landes and Mr. M.Hariharasudhan, Correspondent, Dr.MCET. Microsoft Innovation Center at Dr. MCET is one among the 15 Innovation Centres in India.

Dream Spark Yatra

Every year the training is offered to the Students of Computer related field on Windows Mobile Application Development for a period of more than 15 days by the personnel from the Microsoft.

Dream Spark Yatra (DSY) is a Microsoft Student Partners initiative, empowering students who are passionate about technology to get an insightful overview of the current trends in the software industry.As part of the Microsoft Dream Spark Yatra (DSY)-Microsoft Student Partner’s Initiative offered training to the computer field related student’s on windows Mobile Application Development.

This Yatra also helps students get access to Microsoft’s other academic initiatives like Imagine Cup & Student to Business program. While Imagine Cup helps address societal problems like education, poverty, and health, Student to Business prepares students to get technical jobs. DreamSpark Yatra also provides a great platform to network with like-minded people and helps to enhance our leadership qualities.

Dream Spark Yatra’11 :

During December 2011, 62 students of computer related field attended the training program and enhanced their skills in the modules of introduction to Windows Phone & its tools, Windows Phone 7.1 Emulator, Blend Expression, isolate Storage, panorama an divot application, Web services in Mobile Application, Silver light toolkits. The students were given free application development kits. Based on this, they developed an application on mobile modules.

Dream Spark Yatra’12 :

Students from the departments of CSE, IT and MCA attended the 21 days hands – on training started from September 21, 2013 on Windows 8 Application development. Through this training programme 112 students acquired the training on the Application development.

Microsoft Ideation Fest ’12:

   On 12th October 2012 an Intra-College Windows ‘8 Apps Contest was organized by our College.

  The Chief Guest of this grand function was Mr.Phani Kondepudi, Director-Academic Programmes, Microsoft.

Wowzapp 2012:

   In line with enriching the application development skill of the students Microsoft had organized Wowzapp 2012, a worldwide hackathon event on 9th and 10th November 2012 which would be one among 60 venues in the world and one among 18 venues in India.

  This event invited students and aspiring application developers from the industrial organizations to develop applications using Visual Studio 2012 Express for windows 8 Operating System.

   The selected applications would be published straightaway in the Windows Store.

  Students from MCET and other colleges have made the best use of this opportunity to showcase their talent in the field of developing applications.

  At MCET Centre 64 students have successfully uploaded their apps in windows apps store.

Notable Achievements by the Students:

   Around 50 students of MCET participated in Microsoft Windows AppFest’12- A Guinness Record event organized by Microsoft which held at Bangalore during 21st and 22nd September 2012 as part of DreamSpark Yatra’12.

  Among 50 participants, 7 member’s application was selected by Microsoft and they were awarded with prizes.
