5th International Yoga Day (2019) @ MCET

The 5th International Day of Yoga was celebrated in the college on Friday, 21 June 2019 from 6.45 am till 8.00 am. The students, faculty members, NCC and NSS volunteers of the college participated in the event and students of sister institution Nachimuthu Polytechnic, NGM College and nearby schools also joined for the yoga practice.  Around 300 participants assembled for the practice.

Mr. S. Ketharaeswaran, wellness instructor of the college and a couple of student volunteers demonstrated each yogasana and briefly explained the benefits. The participants followed the demonstration and practiced each yogasana with involvement.  Earlier the serene morning auspiciously unfolded with prayer by Ms. N. Rajeswari, Assistant Wellness Instructor. The practice ended with relaxation.

Dr. A. Rathinavelu, Principal of the college felicitated the event. He underlined the fact that yoga unites the body and mind. He added that in fast-paced life style of the present day, yoga is much needed for everyone to bring about that calm and equipoise in the mind to take the correct and righteous decisions and lead a happy and fulfilling life. He rightly pointed out youth can stay on the right path by regular practices of even simple yoga and achieve their goals amidst the distractions and challenges.

The Science and humanities department and the Professional Skills cell of the college made the arrangements for the celebration. The yoga exercises followed the IDY protocol. The celebration was concluded with chanting of the world blessing song and Shanthi mantra. Sample photos are given in a separate file.
